Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a growing field within that medical health community. It is a form of tissue engineering that involves the process of human cell regeneration. Stem cell therapy is a state-of-the-art procedure that we provide for our patients suffering from chronic pain. This treatment provides the body with the resources it needs to heal better and faster. The best part about stem cell therapy is that it utilizes biologic material harvested directly from the patient’s body – meaning minimal risk, minimal recovery time, and minimal worry.

The Benefits of Regenerative Medicine

  • Minimally-invasive procedures
  • Avoid surgery and its many complications and risks
  • Minimal post-procedural recovery time
  • No use of general anesthesia
  • No risk of rejection (we use biologics extracted from the patient)
  • No communicable disease transmission
  • Pain reduction
  • Increased mobility and function

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell Therapy is a procedure that utilizes the body’s stem cells to aid in healing and regenerating damaged tissue.

Everyone is born with stem cells – they are the essential building blocks of life. Their primary function is to rebuild and regrow cellular tissue through cell division and differentiation. In other words, stem cells have the capability to develop into any type of cell within the human body, as well as initiate a natural healing response.

Where Do Stem Cells Come from?

As we mentioned, stem cells are harvested from the patient’s body –  either from adipose (fat) tissue or bone marrow from the iliac crest (pelvis). Both of these extraction procedures are minimally-invasive and require little recovery time.

Adipose-Derived Stem Cells

Adipose-derived stem cells are harvested from the patient’s adipose (fat) tissue, which is just above the love handles/abdomen. Harvesting these cells is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a local anesthetic. Adipose tissue also contains a high volume of mesenchymal stem cells, which are very responsive to treating a wide variety of conditions.

Bone Marrow-Derived Stem Cells

Bone marrow-derived stem cells are harvested from the patient’s illiac crest (pelvis). This is also a minimally invasive procedure that uses a local anesthetic. Although bone marrow-derived stem cells contain similar properties and characteristics as adipose-derived stem cells, they are both unique biologics and employed in treatment for different reasons.
